Step 1: Design of the Exam

CAPR follows best practices in exam design.

  1.  The exam has a clear and specific purpose: to evaluate whether a candidate has the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities of an entry-to-practice physiotherapist.
  2.  The content tested on the exam is based on a practice analysis of the physiotherapy profession, which is updated on a periodic basis. Hundreds of currently practising physiotherapists provide input, along with academics and other experts, on the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to practice competently at entry-to-practice.
  3.  The exam’s content areas, structure, and format are outlined in a publicly available blueprint. The PCE Blueprint provides explicit instructions and guidelines on what will be tested and how it will be tested.
