Secondary School Documentation Now Required for Nigerian-Educated Applicants

The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators is committed to protecting the public by adopting current best practices in the verification of credentials.  Our partners at World Education Services (WES), a respected education assessment agency, have advised us that they now require secondary school documentation in order to best verify post-secondary education received in Nigeria.  To comply with this, it is necessary for CAPR to ask for this additional documentation from physiotherapist applicants educated in Nigeria.

Effective immediately, all applicants who completed their physiotherapy education in Nigeria are now required to submit:

  • Final Secondary Examination Results (e.g. West African Senior School Certificate)
    • This document must be attested by the appropriate examining body, based on which council issued the certificate, and sent directly to our office from The West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) in a stamped and sealed envelope that lists WAEC or NECO as the sender of all packages, including courier packages.
  • A new unscratched WAEC or NECO scratch card
    • Obtain a new WAEC or NECO scratch card and send it to the CAPR office by mail. We will only accept unscratched cards.
  • If you had direct entry into the second year of study, you must also provide documentation for prior study, e.g. IJMB exam certificate, A-level results, National Certificate of Education, National Diploma or Higher National Diploma.
    • This document must be attested by the appropriate examining body and sent directly to our office in a stamped and sealed envelope that lists the appropriate body as the sender of all packages, including courier packages.

This is in addition to all other required documentation from you and your institution(s). Our application forms will be updated to reflect this information.
