An Updated Competency Profile for Physiotherapists in Canada with New Entry-to-Practice Milestones

There is a new Competency Profile for Physiotherapists in Canada including Entry-to-Practice Milestones!

This is the first time a competency profile for physiotherapists in Canada includes entry-to-practice milestones which is a significant accomplishment. Newly-trained physiotherapists now have clearer guidance on the knowledge and skills they need to demonstrate in order to transition successfully into physiotherapy practice at the entry point of their physiotherapy careers.

Both the Essential Competencies and Entry-to-Practice Milestones are intended to offer guidance in a number of areas, including: setting accreditation standards, informing curriculum content, developing exam blueprints, and establishing a baseline for areas of specialization.

This initiative by the National Physiotherapy Advisor Group (NPAG) was led by CAPR and the Canadian Council of Physiotherapy University Programs (CCPUP), with contributions from the Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC) and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
