Meet Jennifer Kelly

Jennifer Kelly took on the role of Registrar at the PEI College of Physiotherapists on January 1, 2020, and was promptly thrown into the deep end.  With COVID-19 disrupting health care, health professional education and licensure—and life in general—it was like being sent to a regulatory boot camp. “The learning curve is steep, but the silver lining is that I have learned so much in a very short period.”

COVID-19 aside, PEICP is preparing for a big legislative change. Currently governed by the Physiotherapy Act, their enabling legislation will soon fall under the Regulated Health Professions Act. In preparation, Jennifer, her Council and legal advisors are working on the bylaw changes necessary to make this happen.

A physiotherapist graduating from Dalhousie in 2012, she is a married mother of two small children who also works full time in private practice. In ‘normal times’, Jennifer is fond of travel, yoga, running and swimming. Right now, she is staying healthy by doing online yoga videos while her daughter drapes herself all over her—good for extra strength work. Another silver lining.
