CEO Steps Aside

After leading the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) for more than a decade, Katya Masnyk is stepping aside as CEO to concentrate on completing an advanced degree.

The CAPR  is the national federation of provincial/territorial physiotherapy regulators that delivers evaluation services on behalf of its Members and supports pan-Canadian regulatory policy initiatives.  Since July, 2011, Ms Masnyk has managed CAPR’s strategic direction, objectives and programs.  Together with the CAPR President, she served as the CAPR spokesperson and is a strong advocate for excellence in pan-Canadian physiotherapy regulation.   She has collaborated with many national and international regulatory and assessment organizations in support of the public interest in physiotherapy, as well as working hard to build strong collaborative partnerships within the Canadian physiotherapy community.

Ms Masnyk said, “I have worked side by side with a highly supportive Board of Directors and an amazing staff for the past ten years, enabling thousands of candidates to enter practice as physiotherapists and contributing to a range of pan-Canadian policy objectives. It’s time for me to pursue personal goals as CAPR moves forward to innovate best practices in competence assessment.”

Denis Pelletier, Board President, said, “The Board thanks Katya Masnyk for leading one of the evaluation services agencies in Canadian healthcare for more than a decade, including the difficult years of the pandemic. She has always served in the best interests of the public and the profession and we wish her well as she reaches for personal goals so well deserved.”
