CAPR retains PwC to conduct comprehensive review of exam failure

In response to the issues that led to the cancellation of the March 2021 Clinical Component exam, the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) has retained PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a third-party expert to conduct an independent, comprehensive review. PwC’s mandate includes evaluating the root causes of the failures associated with the exam and providing recommendations to prevent them from happening again.

We are also working with our service providers to understand how this failure occurred. Education Management Solutions (EMS), one of our service providers, is conducting its own internal investigation.

CAPR will proceed as quickly as possible to determine a path forward for future exams. That said, prior to doing so, it is important that we provide PwC with the time required to conduct its independent investigation so that we can understand the root cause of the issues and ensure they do not happen again. We are working closely with physiotherapy regulators regarding issues relating to the licensing process and invite all candidates to contact their provincial registrar for more information.

We know how much work physiotherapist candidates put into preparing for this exam and how stressful this situation has been. Once again, we extend our sincere apologies to those who have been negatively impacted.

Please be assured that the CAPR team is working tirelessly to resolve the situation as quickly and effectively as possible.
