Is the PCE Valid? – Step 1: Design of the Exam

We follow best practices during the development and design of the exam:

  1. Our exam has a clear and specific purpose: to determine that a candidate has the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities of an entry-to-practice physiotherapist.
  2. The exam is based on a practice analysis of the physiotherapy profession which is updated on a periodic basis. Hundreds of currently-practising physiotherapists provide input, along with academics and other experts.
  3. The PCE is multi-modal. It includes a written component testing the understanding of essential physiotherapy knowledge, skills and abilities.  The clinical component tests the application of physiotherapy knowledge, the performance of skills and the exercise of clinical judgement in a safe and professional manner.
