The 3 Step Process

In Canada, physiotherapists are licensed/registered by provincial/territorial regulatory colleges. Most colleges have their credentialling, language fluency testing, and competency examination activities performed by The Alliance.

The Alliance does not make decisions about who can and cannot be licensed/registered to practice physiotherapy in provinces/territories. The Alliance only provides information on credentials and qualifications results to provincial/territorial physiotherapy regulators. It is up to the regulators to make decisions about who is and who is not eligible to practice.

It's a Three Step Process!

Obtaining a license/registration to practice physiotherapy in Canada involves a three step assessment process.

Three Steps of Assessment

1.

Educational Credentials and Qualification Assessment for internationally educated applicants by The Alliance

2.

Successful completion of the Physiotherapy Competency Examination, administered by The Alliance

3.

Application for license to the Provincial/Territorial Regulatory College
