Free Occupation-specific Language Training Courses Available in Ontario

Colleges Ontario is offering free Occupation-specific Language Training (OSLT) courses for newcomers to Canada that want to improve their communication skills in the workplace.  These courses are offered on a part-time and full-time basis at college campuses and workplaces for qualified applicants. This training is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Internationally-educated physiotherapists (IEPTs) that are new to Canada can check out the Workplace Communication Skills for Health Sciences training as part of this program. Courses available in this program will help IEPTs to better communicate information on client care, collaborate with team members, understand health care work places in Ontario, and network with local employers, industry associations and employment resources.

Please note that this training is not intended to fill the language proficiency requirement of the CAPR credentialling assessment and will not be accepted for that requirement.  However, taking these courses may help you to improve your language proficiency skills which can prepare you for successful physiotherapy practice in Canada.

CAPR has made a link to this resource permanently available on our Credentialling Resources page.

Browse the OSLT home page to learn more about the training and entry requirements.
